Denny LaForce

Age at time of ride: 60

I've been backpacking for 35 years and recently converted to bike touring. Both offer: The simplicity of self propelled motion. A healthy form of physical exertion. The self reliance of carrying all your worldly needs. The solitude necessary for deep contemplation. The companionship of like-minded travelers. The ability to witness the beauty of the world around us at a speed that allows attention to detail in a slowly, ever-changing panorama.

Average miles per year: 1,200

Occupation: Mechanic, Machine Builder, Farmer

Home state: Massachusetts
